Blocked nose? This technique is a great way to unblock it FAST!

As you know if you’ve been to see me, I’ll natter on and on about the importance of breathing correctly. The right kind of breathing can really influence how you feel.

It’s that time of year again, isn’t it? Everyone is feeling a bit run down and is snuffling away with the seasonal cold. There’s nothing worse than feeling snotty apart from the dreaded blocked nose!

I’ve known about this simple breathing technique for decongesting the nose for a few years now and it really works and FAST!

  1. Sit up straight and exhale a soft breath and then pinch both nostrils shut.
  2. Shake your head up and down or side to side.
  3. Keep going until you feel a sense of air hunger, take a very slow and controlled breath in through the nose. If your nose is still congested, breath softly through the mouth with pursed lips.
  4. Between each cycle take a few slow and gentle breaths in preparation for the next cycle.
