From Hypnosis to Heavy Hits

Most of the time, if you walked past the therapy room, you’d hear the gentle, calming sounds of hypnotherapy music drifting through the door. What you wouldn’t expect to hear is Ozzy Osbourne’s Diary of a Madman blasting at full volume.

But that’s exactly what happened this week.

Why? Because I have the absolute pleasure of sponsoring Jamie Rawlinson—of Rawlinson Home Improvements by day, and ‘Spoken Audio’ by night—as he prepares for a charity boxing match this weekend.

Jamie’s been training hard for weeks ahead of Saturday’s fight at the Cedar Court Hotel in Elland, Huddersfield. And don’t be fooled by the word charity—these boxers take it seriously. Which brings us neatly back to Ozzy.

Diary of a Madman is Jamie’s walk-on track—already powerful for him. During our session, we used that power and layered it with hypnotic anchoring and visualisation techniques. Together, we mentally rehearsed the entire day—from stepping into the venue to hearing the last bell and even healing afterwards—so that when the moment comes, he’ll be in the strongest possible headspace to face this immense challenge.

Hypnotherapy can be a game-changer in sport. Over the years, I’ve worked with marathon runners, gymnasts, footballers, rugby players, cyclists—athletes from all walks of life. Because no matter the sport, the mind can be your greatest ally or your biggest obstacle.

I can’t promise hypnotherapy will win Jamie the fight. But I can say that he’s done everything in his power to be ready—and that alone is something he, and his family, should be incredibly proud of. Especially considering the money he’s raising for Mind, the brilliant mental health charity.

If you’d like to support Jamie, you can donate via his JustGiving page here.

Common Therapies

I’m often asked what can hypnotherapy be used to treat and it’s such a difficult question to answer because the answer is just about anything where the subconscious is involved. Sometimes whatever that is doesn’t have an obvious connection to the subconscious so if you’re wondering if hypnotherapy can help you, the answer is most likely yes!

I’ve given a little more detail on some of the more common things I work with, however this is not an exhaustive list by any means. Feel free to contact me to find out how hypnotherapy can help you.
